Contemporary Artist · Rome
Matter, void, transformation.
“The void is not absence. It is space, possibility, breath.”
Giada Russo is a contemporary artist born in Rome in 1985. Self-taught, she began her practice around twenty years ago through oil and acrylic portraiture. For years she worked from existing images, while the blank canvas remained a difficult territory to cross.
A period of deep suffering, personal growth and spiritual exploration became the turning point. Representation gradually gave way to matter: lime, cement, plaster, glass, hemp and reclaimed materials became an essential, three-dimensional and often monochromatic language.
The circle returns as a constant, almost obsessive presence. Void and fullness, fracture and recomposition, cyclicality and feminine energy define a practice that sees transformation as a continuous condition of being.
While working she loses track of time: concentration, gesture and matter coincide in the present.

2026 · 80 × 80 × 3.5 cm · raised cement effect · glass fragments
This work represents the deepest point of my research. The crack is not hidden. It is welcomed. It is transformed. Fragments of glass enter the fracture: what seemed like a break becomes precious matter, capable of reflecting light. Perhaps healing does not mean returning to how things were before. Perhaps it means becoming something new, carrying our cracks with us.
The work was presented as a video projection as part of Visioni Museum Select at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, then physically exhibited at Moonzescope Gallery in SoHo and subsequently presented at auction in New York, where it was sold.

Each commission begins with an encounter between Giada’s artistic identity and the place that will hold the work. Space, light, proportions, colours and materials are considered together to create a piece that truly belongs to the environment without losing the artist’s voice.
Giada has created commissioned works for Ferretti Yachts, offices, Pilates studios and holistic centres. Every work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and can be shipped in Italy and internationally.

A photograph, dimensions, light and what you would like to feel in the space.

The work is created, finished and delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
